Student Disability Services
The Colorado School of Mines is committed to providing equal access to University courses, programs, and activities for students with a disability. In compliance with the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Student Disability Services staff works with qualified undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to manage the impact of their disability on learning and living at the School.
Student Disability Services makes students aware of their rights and facilitates effective and reasonable accommodations. Students are also made aware of their responsibilities in the accommodation process and are expected to speak and act on their own behalf to ensure successful provision of accommodations.
This website is designed to inform prospective students, staff, and faculty about accessing disability services. It is also meant to prepare incoming students for the differences in services at the post-secondary level and at the Colorado School of Mines. It includes information about the transition from high school to college as well as the policies and procedures governing application for services and implementation of reasonable accommodations. The reader will find comprehensive information about required documentation to qualify for services.
May 1st is the recommended date by which to apply for services for new fall semester students. While later requests are not rejected, the early deadline is to ensure the student has completed registration with Student Disability Services and accommodations are in place at the start of the semester. Because the registration process takes time, late requests may result in late facilitation of services.
Please contact the Coordinator of Student Disability Services for additional assistance. And thank you for inquiring about Student Disability Services at the Colorado School of Mines!
